Bottle Gourd Tomato Curry /Sorakaya Tomato curry/ Louki Tomato Curry

Last week I made Bottle Gourd  Tomato / opo squash Tomoto , Sorakaya Tomato (Telugu)  , Louki Tomato (Hindi)  Gravy Curry and it tasted so yummy.  This curry is simple, easy to cook and tasty. So today I'm making the curry again. This curry tastes good with Rice and Roti/Chapathi.
Ingredients:

Bottle Gourd/ Sorakaya/ Lauki (small size) - 1
Tomatoes (Medium size)- 5
Onions (Medium size) – 2
Turmeric – ¼ tsp
Green chilies - 3
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp (adjust according to your taste)
Red chili powder – ½ tsp (adjust according to your taste)
 For tempering/tadka/popu
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Urad dal/White lentils – ½ tsp
Bengal gram/chana dal – ½ tsp

Preparation:

• Chop the onions, green chilies. Cut the tomatoes and bottlegourd/Sorakaya into small cubes and keep them aside.

• Heat  the oil in a cooking vessel, add the mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add the cumin seeds, urad dal/white letils, bengal gram/chana dal  and curry leaves and saute for a few seconds (until they are slightly brown).

• Add chopped Onions and green chilies, saute until onions are translucent.

• Add the cubed tomatoes and turmeric powder and mix it. Place lid and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Mix in between so that it does not stick to the bottom of the vessel.

• Once the tomatoes are slightly cooked, add red chili powder and salt to taste and mix well.

• Now add cut bottle gourd/Sorakaya/lauki pieces and mix well.

• Cover the lid and cook for 15 minutes or until the bottle gourd pieces are cooked well. Don’t forget to mix in between so that it does not stick to the bottom of the vessel.

• Now Bottle gourd tomato/opo squash tomato/Sorakaya tomato /Lauki tomato  gravy curry is ready to eat. Serve the curry with Rice or Roti/chapathi.
